Growing my career at the Department level has made me a Generalist. The broad set of skills I've developed have helped me to find lasting solutions to complex problems. For me, that is one of the most rewarding parts of working in Information Technology. If a solution is needed I try my best to find it. This sometimes involves an outside product, but having a good working knowledge of Information Technology has enabled me to quite often provide an in-house solution using free open-source technology and my ability to program. Over the years my software development skills have grown to provide more thoughtful planning and implementation which have resulted in a great deal of project unity.
